Help Us Stop Aldi's Proposed Development
Aldi, the German supermarket chain, have resurrected their plan to build a supermarket behind the Ruxley Lane / Kingston Road shopping parade. Only four months after local Conservatives forced them to withdraw their initial planning application, this looks like a cynical move to catch residents unaware.
However, their move has failed as we are ready and willing to put up a fight!
The proposed development involves the demolition of six family homes and part of the shopping parade. Additionally, the ever popular parking spaces on the slip road to Ruxley Lane shall be removed and traffic congestion at both the Ruxley Lane and Thorndon Gardens junctions of Kingston Road will increase even beyond today's levels.
We need your help to stop this development.

- Whether external alterations to an existing building are in character;
- Whether a proposed use is a suitable one for the area;
- Whether there will be any unreasonable increase in general disturbance, for example from the comings and goings of extra traffic;
- Whether new roadways, accesses and adequate parking will be safe for road users and pedestrians;
- Whether new public buildings have satisfactory access for the disabled;
- Whether, in the case of an application for an advertisement, the proposed sign is too large or unsightly;
- Whether a public footpath is affected;
